Hey you know that if you learn and you can easily make your desktop portable ( useyour computer system, file, folder, data etc in any where ) There are certain steeps where you would like to carry with a fully encapsulated desktop in your USB flash drive. That’s way you can boot into that desktop, that do some work, also save said work, and shut down. With this I could use any PC and know that:
- No virus or any kinds of malware would infect your works
- No any different changes would be made on the “guest” PC
A portable Linux distribution called Porteus ( portable operating system based on Slackware) .
This sort of state is good for many types of users and it is possible also. Porteus is based on Slackware and allows you to boot into a Linux operating system from a USB flash drive, save any data,file,folder/full of work to the USB flash drive, and then take that work with you. It is a blown scattering that runs either the KDE or Xfce desktop . The 64-bit version of Porteus give special offers to the standard KDE or Xfce desktops, where as the 32 bit version of operating system runs Razor-qt . If you want to walk you through the full steeps of Porteus on to a USB drive then follow the given post. and you we will do this by downloading the ISO image and after then extracting the file what we need and want from the ISO.
Porteus manages to the special offer a blown distribution by set-up in a compressed state . During the time of booting process, it uncompresses and it is easy with boots very fast which help to save the time. Porteus also give a special offers aout the package manager so, you can easily setup more apps. The offer package of the manager has a dedicated Porteus repository to select from, but you can easily setup an apps from any repository. All setuped apps are treated as modules and can be activated quickly and deactivated quickly any time.
What you need to do :
Quick and foremost, you will need to download ISO picture from the Porteus downloads page. You will also need USB flash drive with large bandwith and need enough to hold not only the operating system, but also the data you plan on saving the desktop on the desktop which depending upon your needs, the size of USB drive will change. The USB flash drive will need to be formatted or empty in the EXT3 format. If theUSB flash drive is formatted in a Windows filesystem, no changes will be saved between reboots of the drive because it is not a process to make desktop file to the USB.
How To setup :
Once you have the ISO downloaded, after the follow the down steeps .
- At first open up a terminal window.
- Create a temporary directory with the command: mkdir ~/loop. Mount the downloaded file with the command: mount -o loop ~/Downloads/file.iso ~/loop (Where file.iso is the name of the Porteus ISO).
- after command insert your flash drive.
- Locate the path to the mounted flash drive.
- From the ~/loop directory, copy the boot and porteus folders onto the flash drive.
- Change into the porteus folder on the flash drive.
